Helmer for Virginia is seeking qualified, enthusiastic students to serve as part-time interns. Internship responsibilities include working with the Finance Director to plan and build fundraising events, making fundraising calls, conducting donor research, writing email blasts, and other duties as they arise. Dan Helmer, a West Point graduate and Rhodes Scholar, is running for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 40th House District. This District was lost by a slim 99-vote margin in 2017 and is one of the most likely seats for Democrats to flip in 2019. Dan has picked up endorsements from House Minority Leader Eileen Filler-Corn, Fairfax County Chair Sharon Bulova, and nearly two dozen other sitting State House and Senate members.
Experience or familiarity with American politics, campaigns, and/or fundraising
Must own a laptop and a cell phone
Ability or willingness to learn Excel, NGP, and donor databases
Ability to take initiative, anticipate issues, and problem-solve
Ability to work with a wide variety of people, including hosts, special guests, donors, and volunteers
Ability to staff at least three fundraising events per quarter
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding campaign activities
All interns are expected to arrange their own transportation to/from the office and events
